The new kitchen wing of the Aland central hospital (Finland) was inaugurated in December 2006. The central kitchen prepares approximately 700-800 food portions per day for both the in-patients and visitors.
The main requirement for the new kitchen's waste management system was a high level of compostability and the reduction of waste. Taifun was selected as the supplier of the kitchen waste management and transport system. The solution includes a total of 4 suctions poins, and a dewatering screw which removes the excess water from the food waste. The highly automatized Taifun vacuum conveying and cleaning system enables the hygienic transport of food waste.
Taifun is the trademark of MariMatic Oy, expert in vacuum technology since 1983. The company provides waste and by-product handling and conveying solutions for a wide range of businesses globally. Over 600 vacuum conveying systems have been supplied to fish processing plants, abattoirs, poultry processing plants, vegetable processing plants, professional kitchens and other industries.
