Danish Crown's flagship plant in Horsens, Denmark is the largest and most modern pork processing facility in Europe. Inaugurated in 2005 and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the abattoir's capacity extends to 78 000 pigs slaughtered per week.
As only the most advanced technology was allowed into the new facility, Danish Crown chose Taifun as the supplier of the slaughterhouse's food waste management system. The fully automatized Taifun vacuum conveying and cleaning system enables the hygienic transport of food waste and by-products and eliminates the risk of contamination, as there is no crossing of production lines. The vacuum system feeds material in even batches, thereby leaving the working area free of accumulating waste and by-products.
