Taifun system deliveries have begun for the new Viking Line high-speed passenger ferry, currently under construction in the Aker Finnyards shipyards. The 2500-passenger ferry will start operating between Helsinki (Finland) and Tallinn (Estonia) in the beginning of 2008.
Due to the strict environmental standards required by Viking Line, Taifun was selected as the supplier of the galley waste management system. The Taifun vacuum conveying system comprises stainless steel pipelines, food waste tanks, de-watering/vacuum units and a total of 7 suction points. The waste transport capacity is up to 2000 kg/h.
Taifun is the trademark of MariMatic Oy, expert in vacuum technology since 1983. The company provides waste and by-product handling and conveying solutions for a wide range of businesses globally. Over 600 vacuum conveying systems have been supplied to marine galleys, professional kitchens, fish processing plants, abattoirs, poultry processing plants, vegetable processing plants, and other industries.
